Aaron Green
Founder, Owner & Chief Executive Officer
Greetings! Growing up, Aaron faced many obstacles, some of which could have persuaded him to choose the wrong path. As a result of Aaron's dedicated support system, it landed him many successes, as well as a vision of which he founded in 2015.
Ever since a young boy, going to school and participating in the fine arts has always been his passion. Aaron is reminded of a quote his mother would always say to him and his siblings; “No work, no eat”. His mother was passionate regarding her children going to school, graduating and finding a career. During Aaron's education journey (Elementary - College), Aaron was also met with a plethora of supportive Teachers and platforms which granted him the opportunity to showcase his musical and theatrical talents from; school theatre programs, jazz band, arts and crafts exhibits & choral groups.
With this support system, along with Aaron's fascination for music, it encouraged him to focus on his educational studies. As a result, Aaron successfully completed his educational journey with numerous accolades and awards.
Prior to Aaron's Rec R Us dream, Aaron served 20 + years in a career of Education, Therapeutic Recreation and Social Services. Aaron's career adventure started as a floating Paraprofessional Teacher's Assistant for New York City's Board of Education (BOE) / District 75. Aaron then gained the interests in serving as a Recreation Assistant and Therapist, where he's worked in several Nursing Homes in greater NYC, providing therapeutic recreation and music arts activities. Aaron was then offered the opportunity in serving as a music and arts instructor for the Asphalt Green Summer Camp program located on the upper east side in Manhattan NY. Aaron was then greeted with a passion in supporting individuals who were less fortunate and felt an obligation in adhering to their needs. This led Aaron in being offered a career in Social Services. Aaron had the opportunity in serving as a Case Manager, Housing Specialist, Medicaid Service Coordinator and a Psychiatric Case Clinician for an array of city and state departmental organizations such as; NYC's Department of Homeless Services (DHS) shelter system for both individuals and families, NYC's Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD), Medicaid service programs, assistant living facilities, NYC's Office of Mental Health (OMH), scattered site housing programs and a NJ Psychiatric Day Habilitation Center.
While being employed with most of these organizations, Aaron quickly initiated and jumped to opportunities implementing some kind of musical / social activity for the clients being served from; annual holiday shows, recitals, arts and crafts exhibits and many other recreational activities. With this extensive resume, Aaron expresses and now realizes that, while working in these positions for two decades, little did he know, it was a silent preparation for his vision.
Aaron realizes the simple joys of recreation, and it's these simple joys that can make a huge difference in someone's life, as well in serving as a road map to greatness. Aaron finds this mission relevant and necessary during today's troubling times. We are recreation, we are happiness. Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you,
Rec R Us.
